DARIAH-SI, as part of the pan-European Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities DARIAH-EU, promotes and increases awareness of digital arts and humanities research, projects, tools and best practices within Slovenia and the wider network of European digital arts and humanities.
Researchers and institutions use DARIAH to:
- find and use a wide range of research data from across Europe
- exchange knowledge, expertise, methodologies, and practices across domains and disciplines
- ensure that they work to accepted standards and follow best practice
- experiment and innovate in collaboration with other scholars.
Slovenian branch of DARIAH comprises individual researchers from different institutions, national coordination institution is Institute of Contemporary History, partner institution in the Slovenian ESFRI project is Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Art. In September 2016 Institute Jožef Stefan became a member of the DARIAH-SI initiative. Slovenia is in the infrastructural consortium DARIAH-Eric represented by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport.
Among the goals of DARIAH-SI we can find also:
- realization of declared national strategies and policies
- unification of digital research infrastructure for the arts and humanities on a national level
- integration of digital databases at the national level on a single platform
- integration, discourse and homogenization of community of developers and users of modern solutions
- popularization of the use of advanced tools in the humanities.
